Thirteenth Annual Workshop on Immigrant Languages in the Americas
November 10–12, 2022
hosted by University of Wisconsin-Madison
The workshop will be held in Union South on the University of Wisconsin – Madison campus. We realize that November is rapidly approaching and many of you will need to arrange transportation and accommodation. Here are a few tips, but please get in touch if you have more specific questions.
For those arriving internationally, flying into Chicago O’Hare is likely your best option. There are busses that run frequently from the airport to the UW-Madison campus (you will want the final Madison Lake St. stop). Find the bus schedule here. There is an airport in Madison, as well as one in Milwaukee, about an hour’s drive away (also with bus service).
If you’re attending in person, rooms are available at the Union South Hotel for $170 per night. Unfortunately, campus lodging has gotten extremely expensive and some of you, no doubt, will want to look at other local options. Reservations can be made by calling 608.263.2600 and mentioning the group name “WILA 13” or online at union.wisc.edu/hotel with the group code “WILA13”. Reservations must be received by the morning of October 9th, 2022. After this date, reservations will be accepted based on availability.
Parking on campus is a bit challenging, but there is a garage under Union South and public garages near State St (near Memorial Union). Street parking is often findable, but may take a bit of searching.
If you are staying at the Wisconsin Union Hotel (Union South location), complimentary parking for one car per room is included at Union South Lot 80. Please pick up a parking ticket from the hotel’s front desk before entering the parking structure. For your convenience, a circle-drive for temporary parking is located off W. Dayton at Orchard Street.
